COLUMBUS, OH – Galen R. Barnes, retired President and Chief Operating Officer of Nationwide Insurance, has been elected chairperson of the Ohio Dominican University Board of Trustees. Thomas J. Mueller and Sr. Janice Bachman also elected as Board Officers. Barnes succeeds Monsignor Joseph Hendricks, who served as ODU’s board chair for the past four years. Monsignor Hendricks is Pastor of St. Brigid of Kildare Parish in Dublin, Ohio. He has served as a University trustee since 1999.

Columbus, OH – After seven years of leading Ohio Dominican University’s football program, Head Football Coach Dale Carlson is returning to Indiana as the new head football coach at Valparaiso University. Carlson, with more than 25 years experience coaching at the college level, came to Ohio Dominican in the summer of 2003 to be the school’s first head football coach.
Columbus, OH – Ohio Dominican University’s Village to Child Program, a free, after-school academic enrichment program for at-risk middle school students, has received renewal funding from the United Way of Central Ohio in the amount of $65,000. United Way funding helps provide transportation assistance, tutoring, homework assistance, and project-based and service-learning opportunities for middle school students who are enrolled in the program on ODU’s main campus, according to Reina Sims, MS, Director of Village to Child (VTC).
