    Financial Aid

Graduate-level study likely will advance your career and deepen your knowledge. However, we realize that you may need financial assistance to complete your degree. As an ODU student, you maybe eligible for an unsubsidized (non-need based) Federal Stafford Loan. Here are a few specifics:

    • Eligibility: Available if you are enrolled at least part-time 3 graduate credit hours
    • Amount: Maximum annual loan for unsubsidized is $20,500. Aggregate loan limit for graduate students is $138,500, which includes any loans obtained for undergraduate studies.
    • Interest rate: Varies. For unsubsidized loans, interest accrues while you are enrolled.

To be considered for these loans, you must:

    • File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year. The FAFSA is used to calculate your and your spouse’s (if applicable) contribution and determine your financial need. You should complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1.
    • Not be in default on prior educational loans
    • Maintain a minimum of 3 hours per semester
    • Maintain satisfactory academic progress

    Steps for filing your FAFSA:

    1. Apply for a PIN (Personal Identification Number) online at www.pin.ed.gov. You must have your PIN prior to completing the FAFSA. The PIN serves as your electronic signature on the FAFSA and will also serve as your signature on the Master Promissory Note (MPN) when borrowing under the Stafford Loan programs.
    2. Complete the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. All graduate students are considered independent for financial aid purposes. Ohio Dominican University’s school code is 00303500.

    How aid is calculated

Both direct and indirect educational expenses are used when determining your eligibility for financial aid. Individual student budgets are based on the student's actual enrollment status, degree program, and tuition and fees as determined by Ohio Dominican.
