    Ohio Dominican's teacher preparation unit provides undergraduate and graduate programs committed to the fundamental value of liberal arts education and deeply rooted in the Dominican tradition. 

    We are known for our student-centered and innovative approaches to teaching and learning; our commitment to service and community responsibility; and our outreach in response to educational needs. 

    ODU's teacher education programs provide rigorous, professional education for individuals seeking undergraduate and graduate degrees and continuing education opportunities that integrate learning, reflection, collaboration, diversity, and technology. 

    The programs prepare competent, effective, caring teacher-leaders capable of meeting the needs of all students in a diverse student population. 

    Education Program Benefits

    • All ODU licensure and endorsement programs are approved by the Ohio Board of Regents and are nationally recognized by the appropriate national specialized professional organizations.
    • The teacher preparation unit is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
    • ODU has relationships with more than 20 school districts where students can gain classroom experience.
    • ODU teacher candidates participate in a minimum of 460 hours of field experience (including student teaching) in actual classroom settings.
    • ODU teacher candidates complete a minimum of 12 weeks of student teaching experience under the supervision and mentorship of experienced classroom teachers and clinical faculty.
    • ODU offers a broad range of licensure programs from early childhood to specialized secondary disciplines.
    • ODU offers a variety of endorsement programs at the undergraduate and graduate level.
    • ODU is one of the only higher-education institutions in Ohio to offer a Master of Education program totally online.

    Master of Education

    The Master of Education program is designed to help good teachers become better teachers, expanding their knowledge base and classroom strategies, in order to improve student achievement. The M.Ed. program is offered online and at P-12 schools in the Greater Columbus metropolitan area.

    Education Field Office

    ODU's Education Field Office organizes and administers all field and clinical experiences in the teacher education programs. We partner with area school districts and their teachers to help provide quality and diverse field experiences for our future educators.
