Presidents of Ohio Dominican
Jack P. Calareso, Ph.D. was the 13th president of Ohio Dominican.
Dr. Calareso served previously as the President of Briar Cliff College and the chief academic officer at Merrimack College and the College of Saint Rose. He has also had a distinguished career as a professor of theology and educational leadership. Prior to his career in higher education, Dr. Calareso served as a teacher, administrator and school superintendent.
Dr. Calareso served on the boards of the Columbus YMCA, the Catholic Foundation of Columbus, and the Forum for Faith in the Workplace. In the academic arena, he served on the Executive Committee of the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Ohio (AICUO); the board of directors of the Ohio Fund for Independent Colleges; the Council of Presidents in the American Mideast Conference; and the Tax Policy Committee of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU).
Rose Calareso, his wife of over 30 years, has had a distinguished career as an elementary school teacher and a librarian. She shares her husband’s dedication to service. As the First Lady of Ohio Dominican, she was involved in the life of the Ohio Dominican co mmunity while continuing her career as a media specialist in the Gahanna-Jefferson School District.
Dr. and Mrs. Calareso have three grown children: Jack, Jr., who, with his wife, Julie, resides in Albany, New York; Anne Marie, who lives in Boston; and Jeff, who also lives in Boston with his wife, Michelle-Nicole. The Calaresos have two grandchildren, Josie and Paxton.
