Students Recognized at Annual Award Ceremony
April 25, 2002
From inductees to national academic honor societies to service learning community
volunteers, the best and brightest were honored on Sunday at the annual Ohio Dominican
Awards Ceremony.
"Today is about the essence of Ohio
Dominican University," Ohio Dominican President Dr. Jack Calareso said in his
welcoming remarks to the several hundred friends, family and honorees who filled the
Little Theatre of Erskine Hall for the afternoon ceremony. "Today we celebrate
the heart and the mind."
Among those recognized was Clinton Dick, a senior from Peebles in rural Southwest
Ohio. Dick will graduate with honors and distinction in political science from Ohio
Dominican this May with a 3.9 GPA.
He was honored on Sunday for admission to Kappa Gamma Pi, the national Catholic
graduate honor society; Delta Epsilon Sigma, the national academic honor society; for
his membership in Dominican Society, a service and religious study organization; and
as one of the top Ohio Dominican students to be accepted to graduate school. Dick
will attend the Harvard University College of Law this autumn.
While at Ohio Dominican, Dick participated in the Honors program and was a member of
the Academic Standing Committee. He performed in the top 1 percent in the nation on the
Law School Entrance Exam.
"Ohio Dominican University was instrumental in developing my skills and opening
a world of history and concepts and ideas," Dick said.
