New Director of Academic Resource Center Named

COLUMBUS, OH - Ohio Dominican University has appointed Amy Spencer as Director of
its Academic Resource Center.
ODU's Academic Resource Center, located on the second floor of Spangler Learning
Center, provides students with support and assistance through workshops, learning labs
and reference materials. Student tutors provide one-on-one assistance in English,
reading, study skills, humanities, mathematics and foreign languages.
Spencer comes to ODU from the Pontifical College Josephinum, where she was an
assistant professor of English. She also held positions as an ESOL tutor for the
Honda of America Family Center and as an instructional specialist for the ELS Language
Center (Indianapolis, IN).
She is an active member of the Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages
(TESOL) and the MidWest Association of Learning Laboratories, and currently serves as
president of Ohio TESOL's Board of Directors. In addition, Spencer has served as a
community volunteer with the Girl Scouts and New Life Methodist Church.
Spencer holds a bachelor's degree in English from the College of Wooster and a
master's degree in Educational Studies from The Ohio State University. She is a
resident of Delaware, Ohio.
