OHIO DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY TO FEATURE PATRICIA WYNN BROWN FOR
ANNUAL MONSIGNOR FICK LITERARY BRUNCH
COLUMBUS, OH - Ohio Dominican University's annual Monsignor Fick Literary Brunch
will feature author and performer Patricia Wynn Brown. The brunch will be held on
Sunday, March 28 in the Colonial Room of Sansbury Hall on the Ohio Dominican University
campus, 1216 Sunbury Road. The event will begin at 12:00 p.m. and will conclude at 2:00
p.m. An 11:00 a.m. mass in ODU's Christ the King Chapel will precede the event.
During the brunch, Brown will present her chit-chat theater piece, "Launching Boy
Wonder," about kids who leave the nest and eventually find their way back. Brown's
career has crossed over several media outlets, including a newspaper column, TV and
radio. The three-time winner of the (James) Thurber Summer Writing Contest, Brown
is a frequent master of ceremonies and speaker at major events. A cancer survivor,
she donates a percentage of her speaking proceeds to The Hair Theater Fund, a non-profit
organization that helps women and girls in need to purchase wigs and hats.
2004 marks the 55th anniversary of the arrival of Monsignor Leonard J. Fick on
Ohio Dominican's campus. Generations of students who were taught by Msgr. Fick from
1948 to 1969 remember him as an excellent and demanding teacher who introduced them
to the classics of literature, creative writing, drama, novels and poetry.
The cost for the brunch is $17.00 for adults and $10.00 for students. Proceeds
from the literary brunch support the Monsignor Fick Scholarship Fund for Ohio Dominican
students majoring in English. Free parking is available in the Visitors Lot between
Alumni Hall and Lyman Hall, west of Sunbury Road. Reservations are required and can
be made by calling 614-251-4608 by Friday, March 19.
