New Faculty Members Join ODU

COLUMBUS, OH -Ohio Dominican University recently added eight new full-time
faculty members.
Language
Manuel Martinez, Ph.D. joins the faculty of the Division of Languages. Prior
to joining Ohio Dominican, Dr. Martinez was a Spanish professor at Denison
University. He earned an associate's degree in General Education from Miami-Dade
Community College; a bachelor's degree in Business Management and Organization,
Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Miami (FL); a master's degree in Marketing,
also from the University of Miami; and a master's degree and Ph.D. in Spanish from
the University of Cincinnati. He is a resident of Granville, Ohio.
History
Matthew Ponesse, Ph.D. joins ODU as Assistant Professor of History in the
Division of Social & Behavioral Sciences. He earned a bachelor's degree, master's
degree and Ph.D. in Medieval Studies, all from the University of Toronto. Prior to
coming to Ohio Dominican, Dr. Ponesse was an adjunct professor in the History
Department at the University of Southern Indiana. He also taught at the University
of Toronto, where he was an instructor in the Department of History and a teaching
assistant for the Center for Medieval Studies. He is a resident of Columbus, Ohio.
English
Michelle Ruggaber Dougherty, Ph.D. is an instructor in the Division of English Language
and Literature. Previously, Dr. Dougherty was a teaching assistant in the English
Department at Marquette University. In 2002, she received the John D. McCabe Excellence
in Teaching Award from Marquette University. She also held positions as a tutor at
Ott Memorial Writing Center at Marquette University and as a student assistant at
Loras College. She received a bachelor's degree in English from Loras College; a
master's degree in English from Marquette University; and a Ph.D. in British Literature
from Marquette University. Dougherty is a resident of Gahanna, Ohio.
Jeremy Glazier is an instructor in the Division of English Language and Literature.
Glazier has been an adjunct professor at ODU since 2003. He has taught numerous writing
courses at Ohio Dominican, as well as at the Columbus College of Art and Design.
Glazier received a bachelor's degree in English and Spanish, Magna Cum Laude, from
Wittenberg University and a master's degree in Poetry from Columbia University. He
is a resident of Columbus, Ohio.
Mathematics
Joseph Moyer is an instructor in the Division of Mathematics and Information Sciences.
Moyer has been an adjunct professor at ODU since 2003, teaching introductory computer
and mathematics classes. Moyer was a consulting program manager for Lucent Technologies
and CSG Systems. He received a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Computer Science
from the University of Cincinnati; a master's degree in Computing and Information
Sciences from The Ohio State University; and a Secondary Education teaching certificate
in Mathematics from Ohio Dominican University. He is a resident of Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
Philosophy
Lawrence Masek, Ph.D. joins ODU as Assistant Professor in the Division of Philosophy
and Theology. Dr. Masek was an adjunct assistant professor of Philosophy at Marquette
University. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Boston College with a bachelor's degree
in Philosophy and Economics, and earned a master's degree and Ph.D. in Philosophy from
Marquette University. He is a resident of New Albany, Ohio.
Criminal Justice
Sandra Evans Skovron, Ph.D. joins the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences
as a Criminal Justice professor. Dr. Skovron has an extensive background in Criminal
Justice. She was a lecturer in The Ohio State University's Department of Sociology;
and was an associate professor in the University of Cincinnati's Department of Criminal
Justice and Department of Sociology. She has served as a project consultant for the
Governor's Committee on Prison Crowing/Ohio Prison Crowing Project. Dr. Skovron earned
a bachelor's degree, Cum Laude, from The Ohio State University; and also earned a
master's degree and Ph.D., both in Sociology, from OSU. She is a resident of Gahanna,
Ohio.
Education
Kami E. Darling is an instructor in the Division of Education and Physical
Education. Darling has been teaching education courses as an adjunct professor
at Ohio Dominican since 2003. Darling was a Developmental Specialist for the
Franklin County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, where
she administered in-home developmental assessments for children six and under. She
earned her associate's degree in Pre-Kindergarten Education from Columbus State
Community College; her bachelor's degree in Special Education from Ohio Dominican
University (then, Ohio Dominican College); and her master's degree in Early Childhood
Special Education from The Ohio State University. She is a resident of Millersport, Ohio.
