OHIO DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY APPOINTS LAYDEN DIRECTOR OF LIBRARY SERVICES
COLUMBUS, OH -- James E. Layden has been appointed Director of Library
Services at Ohio Dominican University. Layden had been serving as the acting
Director of Library Services since Summer 2003.
Layden came to Ohio Dominican in January 1996, as the Electronic Services
Librarian. He was the key administrator of the conversion from the old card
catalog to the integrated online library system. In January 2000, Layden became
the Technical Services Librarian. While in this position, some of his many duties
included the development and maintenance of the ODU Library web pages, the supervision
and maintenance of all cataloging system activities, and the support of most library
electronic resources.
"Jim's longtime service in the Library and the vital part that he played in the
University's efforts to update many of our library's technical services are a testament
to the great work that Jim will do in his new role," says Dr. Richard Farmer, ODU's
Executive Vice President.
Prior to joining the staff at Ohio Dominican, Layden held library positions at The
College of Mount St. Joseph and the University of Cincinnati.
Layden holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Cincinnati
and a Master's degree in Library Science from the College of Communications and
Information Studies at the University of Kentucky.
Layden is a resident of Columbus.
