Ohio Dominican University Offers Online Master of Education Courses

April 18, 2007

COLUMBUS, OH - Ohio Dominican University, in its near-century tradition as an innovator in teacher education, now offers new Online Master of Education, Curriculum and Instruction courses.

Ohio Dominican’s Online M.Ed. is designed for practicing, licensed teachers who need to complete advanced coursework for license renewal. Initial teacher licensure is not granted as part of the program.

ODU’s Online M.Ed. courses focus on what professional teachers should know and be able to do.  “The Online M.Ed. course of study strives to develop advanced professionals who are highly effective teachers….they are reflective, inquiry-oriented, and cognizant of cultural diversity and individual differences; able to communicate effectively; aware of research; and able to assume leadership responsibilities as practicing teachers,” said Bonnie Beach, Ph.D., Dean of Education.

With Ohio Dominican’s Online Master of Education courses, teachers balancing the demands of work and family can work on their required graduate credit hours without entering a classroom. And, like ODU’s other graduate offerings, the Online M.Ed. is designed to be convenient and flexible to meet the needs of working adults, who can study wherever and whenever it’s convenient for them.

Courses are taught by experienced Ph.D.-level faculty offering personal student support, and the course of study has been designed to meet National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) standards.
