Ohio Dominican University Retains Korn/Ferry for Presidential Search
June 22, 2007
COLUMBUS, OHIO – Ohio Dominican University has retained Korn/Ferry International to conduct its search for a new president.
The announcement follows the departure of Jack Calareso, who left the university today after six years as president, to assume the presidency of Anna Maria College in Paxton, Massachusetts. The Most Reverend Bishop James A. Griffin, retired Bishop of the Diocese of Columbus, will serve as Ohio Dominican’s interim president, beginning July 1.
Korn/Ferry International is a premier provider of talent management solutions, with more than 70 offices in 40 countries, serving public and private, not-for-profit, government and academia. The search will be headed by David Mead-Fox, Senior Client Partner, based in the Boston office. Mead-Fox specializes in executive level searches as part of the firm’s Education and Not-for-Profit Practice, where he manages the New England region.
According to ODU Board of Trustees Chairman Monsignor Joseph P. Hendricks, the search for a new president will begin in September, and it is expected to take six to nine months to complete. “We’re going to take our time and do a thorough and complete search,” he said, adding that Bishop Griffin has agreed to serve as interim president until June 1, 2008, "providing Ohio Dominican with strong and steady leadership during that time.”
In a related development, the university also announced that two Board of Trustees’ members, Claudia Abrams and Galen Barnes, have been elected by the board to serve as chair and vice chair, respectively, of the Presidential Search Committee. The university will announce the appointment of committee members in the fall.

Her business experience spans 25 years, working both for Fortune 500 and entrepreneurial endeavors. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Welfare from San Francisco State University and completed a year of post graduate work in Business. Abrams has served on the Ohio Dominican Board of Trustees since October 1997.

James Cancer Hospital, Endurance Specialty Holdings, a Bermudan reinsurance company; The Ohio State University Self Insurance Fund; and the World Financial Capital Bank.
