Ohio Dominican University Signs Articulation Agreements with Three Community Colleges

January 16, 2008

COLUMBUS, OH – Ohio Dominican University has signed articulation agreements with three community colleges, making the transfer process easier and more accessible to those colleges’ students.

ODU has entered into articulation arrangements with Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) in Newark; Sinclair Community College in Dayton; and Edison Community College in Piqua.

“We are extremely pleased to be in partnership with these three highly-regarded community colleges. Having articulation agreements in place demonstrates that Ohio Dominican is working together with these schools to meet the needs of the community and make it easier for all students to reach their educational goals,” said Karen Gray, Director of Program Articulation, Ohio Dominican University.

The agreements are designed to allow for the maximum transfer of credit between ODU and the three institutions, and to allow for a seamless transition for students.

COTC, Sinclair and Edison graduates who transfer to Ohio Dominican holding an associate degree will be accepted with “junior” standing. Students from those three schools who transfer to ODU without a degree will have their transcripts evaluated on a course-by-course basis.

COTC, Sinclair and Edison students admitted to Ohio Dominican under the agreement will have an equal opportunity for pre-registration and financial aid. ODU will provide onsite and online admissions counseling services for those students and will provide information to those who do not meet ODU’s admission requirements or who need additional program prerequisites.

Students who are interested in seeing how their transfer credit applies to a degree program at Ohio Dominican can do so by accessing the Course Applicability System (CAS) at www.transfer.org. CAS is an online tool that serves as a gateway to participating institutions’ automated degree audit systems. Anyone can create a free CAS account, which will allow them to view course equivalencies, see program requirements, enter and store coursework, and request an evaluation of transfer work.

While all state-assisted institutions are required by House Bill 95 to implement CAS on their campuses, ODU voluntarily chose to become one of the few private institutions in the State of Ohio to participate in the CAS system to help ease the process for transfer students, Gray added.
