Ohio Dominican University Partners with the City of Columbus for Neighborhood PRIDE Initiative

Seal of the City of ColumbusCOLUMBUS, OH ­­– Ohio Dominican University is proud to join the City of Columbus’ 8th Neighborhood PRIDE initiative in the North Central Area Commission during the week of April 21 – 25 at the Brentnell Recreation Center on Brentnell Avenue.

“This is a great way for Ohio Dominican to further our involvement with our neighbors,” said Bishop James A. Griffin, Interim President. “The Neighborhood PRIDE effort is a great service to the Columbus area and we are proud to be a partner to help enhance and improve our community.”

As a partner, ODU will provide 100 box lunches on Thursday, April 24, 2008, which will be served at the Brentnell Recreation Center. The university will offer brochures and fliers with information on “The Charles School at Ohio Dominican University,” an early college high school that will be located at the Brentnell Elementary School in Fall 2008, and “Village to Child” an academic support, mentoring, and educational development program. Additionally, the university will provide door prizes for events that are scheduled for the week.

University officials will attend the community night event with Mayor Michael B. Coleman on Thursday, April 24 to answer questions and promote the university to the attendees.

Neighborhood Pride is a team effort on the part of the City of Columbus, neighborhood groups and individual residents, businesses, schools and other partners to make Columbus neighborhoods safer and cleaner through services such as cleaning trash in alleys, inspecting houses for code compliance, and painting fire hydrants.
