Earn a Certificate or Bachelor's degree in Risk Management & Insurance around your schedule and give your career a boost in Ohio's expanding insurance industry.
Insurance companies need to fill a variety of jobs, from entry-level to management. ODU's experienced instructors and industry-specific curriculum prepare you with the knowledge and skills you need for a successful and rewarding career.

Upon graduation, you are guaranteed an interview with one of our insurance industry partners.
Certificate in Risk Management & Insurance 
  • Classes are all online - each course runs 8 weeks
  • Take courses one or two at a time, completing the certificate in 6 or 10 months
  • Prior post-secondary education is not required
  • Once you complete your certificate, you can put those credits toward an RMI-related associate or bachelor’s degree
  • Certificate in RMI Course Requirements
    Students complete 15 credits from the courses below to earn the Certificate in Risk Management & Insurance.

    If you have already completed Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) courses, as many as two of the certificate courses can be waived, giving you a jump start toward earning your certificate.

Bachelor of Science in Insurance & Risk Management
  • Classes run 8 weeks, offered in both online and hybrid formats.
  • You can take one course at a time, one night a week.
  • Prior post-secondary education is not required.
  • Students with industry credentials may receive academic credit toward their degree. (Based on the American Council on Education’s College Credit Recommendation Service.)
  • Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible to waive two of the eight parts of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation.
  • B.S. in Risk Management & Insurance

    Students must complete the degree requirements for the Bachelor of Science in addition to the major requirements listed below.

    Student either needs a Minor or Emphasis (complete 9 credit hours) but could also do both.

    Academic Advisors should help students pick Emphasis Electives and Minors based on career path. Other electives should be towards minor or graduate school prerequisites (meet with Advisor) and all students need 120 credits (15 credits per semester) to graduate in 4 years.
