| Walter H. Kokernot, Ph.D. is the Division Chair of the English Department at ODU. Dr. Kokernot joined ODU in 1998 as Assistant Professor of English. Prior to joining the faculty at ODU, he was an instructor at Louisiana State University and a post-doctoral lecturer at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.
In addition to serving as a Chair of the Literature and Language Division, Dr. Kokernot has had the previous distinction of Acting Chair of the Literature and Language Division.
Dr. Kokernot earned both, his secondary teaching certificate in English and History and his bachelor's degree in History, from the University of Texas in Austin, Texas; his Master of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from Saint John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico; his Master's of Arts degree in English from the University of Texas at San Antonio; and his doctoral degree in English from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Dr. Kokernot's area of expertise is Victorian Literature.
