Virginia Mc Cormack, Associate Professor of Education has been involved in education as a classroom teacher for thirteen years and an assistant principal with experiences in early childhood, middle childhood, and adult and young adult classrooms in rural, suburban and urban locations in Connecticut, Wisconsin, New York and Ohio. Since 1992, she has participated as a committee member of the Title III Grant, Admissions, Curriculum and Academic Policy, Learning and Information Services, and Student Affairs. With a background in curriculum and instruction, she developed a proposal and program for a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction and designed a Reading Endorsement that was approved by the State of Ohio. With an interest in technology, she has received Title III grant money to develop Web CT courses, administered laptop training to incoming students, published Training Preservice Teachers in Applying Computer Technology to Lesson Planning as a Component of the Elementary School Curriculum, and participated in pilot studies surrounding technology. During 2000, she participated in NCATE training and was selected to be a member of an On-Site Validation Team for the State of Ohio. From 1997-2002, she participated in the Goals 2000- Bridge Program Grant and was the College Partner for the Diocese of Columbus, a Validation Team Member and participated on a Scholarship Selection Committee. Presentations and workshops were given in Teaching Theory that Supports Diverse Student Learning, Praxis III and Pathwise Mentoring, Integrating Technology into Practices in Reading, Preparing Preservice Teachers at the Education Unit as Technology Leaders Through Math and Science Activities, and Teaching the Education Unit: A Model of Collaborative Practice for Preservice Teachers to Enhance Their Transition to the Workforce. Professional memberships include Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, International Reading Association, National Middle School Association, O.A.P.C.T.E., OCTEO, and OACTE.
