ODU Fast Track

"Fast Tracking" is for Everyone!

Whether you're a working professional seeking to obtain or complete your degree, a high-performing high school student looking for a leg-up on college or someone who is accustomed to multi-tasking, we have a program that will put you on the fast track to earning your college degree.

We know that time is a premium commodity - there's just never enough of it to go around. That's why Ohio Dominican University has pulled together this toolbox of information you need to progress toward your goals at a pace that will meet your timetable.

State of Ohio "Fast Track" Programs

The College Board offers these two programs, which Ohio Dominican University makes available on campus for all students who qualify:

CLEP
The College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP) allows students of any age - from seasoned professionals to just-out-of-high-school graduates - to earn college credit by demonstrating on a written examination that they have life achievements and experience that are college-equivalent. If your test results show that you've already mastered course content, then you are able to "clep out" of a specific course requirement. Each 90-minute exam is administered by our Registrar's office. Test fees are the student's responsibility, but there is no limit on the number of semester hours you can accumulate without stepping into the classroom.

AP
Advanced Placement (AP) courses are available to top-performing high school students who are willing to work hard to demonstrate their commitment to academic excellence. AP courses provide rigorous college-level curriculum content in the high school setting. Those successfully passing AP examinations - either after completion of an AP course or based on independent study - will receive college credit. ODU's Registrar's office also administers this program.

Ohio Dominican "Fast Track" Programs

Additionally, Ohio Dominican offers these programs for qualifying students:

Dual Enrollment
A number of high schools in the Greater Columbus area are partners with ODU in enabling secondary students to begin their college careers before high school graduation. High-achieving sophomores, juniors and seniors who meet eligibility standards and have written permission from their principal or guidance counselor earn college credit for select courses taught at their high school. ODU faculty members work closely with secondary school personnel to certify course materials and teachers.

ACCEL
Our ACCEL (Acquire College Credit through Experiential/Prior Learning) program is designed for adults with significant life/career experience. The relationship between such experience and specific ODU courses or academic areas is demonstrated through completion of a portfolio detailing relevant learning. Our faculty members work closely with these individuals to evaluate such experience, provide guidance, clarify learning outcomes and determine credit to be awarded for portfolio completion. A maximum of 32 credit hours may be earned through this ODU program. Interested individuals should contact the Registrar's office prior to beginning their senior year.

"4+1" Program
Ohio Dominican University has developed a unique Fast Track program for individuals entering professions that require a master's degree. This carefully researched program allows students to begin their college studies with the intent to achieve both bachelor and master's degrees at the completion of their studies. This program is available in liberal studies and business administration. The "4+1" program requires students to declare their major early on so that hours needed for the master's degree can be achieved during the senior - and sometimes junior - year. Four years, plus one more will, in most cases, result in degree completion of an MBA or MA more quickly and more economically, as well.
