From Your Alumni Office
Where does the time go? Its hard to believe August is half over
and the campus is about to shift into high gear with returning
students everywhere from Hamilton Hall to the practice fields.
Another level of energy is felt from the sounds of percussion,
brass and tuba musicians as they come together for the first
time as the ODU Marching Band.
Alumni
Happy Hour
On the evening of Thursday, July 20, alumni and friends of Ohio
Dominican University gathered for an evening of fun at the Frog
Bear and Wild Boar in the Arena District. The alumni in
attendance represented the classes of 1973, 1991, 1994, 1995,
1996, 1997, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006! Those
present enjoyed reconnecting with old friends and making new
ones!
Support the
School Supply Drive
When classes begin August 21, the School Supply Drive also
begins and continues until September 1. This project, sponsored
by Campus Ministry, provides homeless children with essential
supplies.
We invite you to join the students efforts by dropping off
pencils, scissors, rulers, protractors, compasses, glue and
crayons to Guzman House, any weekday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00
p.m. You can pull right up to the door and be on your way
to/from work quickly. If you need directions or further
information, please call us at 614-251-4608. The children
receiving the items will appreciate your support, and certainly
our ODU students will as well.
Homecoming
Its exciting to think that all of these students are our future
alums. I hope you are able to meet many of them, see and hear
the band (heck, if you play an instrument you can even play with
them in the first Alumni Band!) as you rekindle old friendships
with former classmates, faculty and friends at Homecoming,
October 6 and 7. Visit our website, http://www.ohiodominican.edu/alumni,
to read all the details and updates. Beginning later this month,
you'll be able to see who has registered to attend!
Alumni/ae from the Classes of 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986, 1991,
1996 and 2001 are asked to contact the Alumni Office
NOW to help plan
reunion activities for their classes during Homecoming Weekend
October 6 - 7.
St.
Mary's Alumnae from classes ending in 2s and 7s are also
encouraged to contact the Alumni Office to begin planning for Reunion
Weekend 2007 - June 1 - 3, 2007.
Hello and
Goodbye
With great pleasure we welcome Fr. John Boll, O.P. 76,
back home to his alma mater as our new chaplain. We extend
thanks and good wishes to Kim Grilli 97, as she leaves
our Alumni Office and moves back to the Admission Office. I will
personally miss working closely with Kim, but am happy for her
to return to her first love of helping prospective students
choose ODU.
The ODU
NEWS!
Watch your mailbox early next month for the first issue of
ODU News, our new publication to keep you better informed of
the great things happening at your alma mater.
As always, we look forward to hearing from you and hope to see
you soon.
