Joseph Shannon

Dr. Joseph W. Shannon III, a clinical psychologist in private practice, graduated from Ohio Dominican College in 1977 (now Ohio Dominican University). He received his Master's Degree and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from The Ohio State University.

He is the Founding Vice-Chair of Ohio Dominican's National Alumni/ae Board. Joseph held the position of Director of Career Counseling and Placement at Ohio Dominican and was a member of the alumni mentoring program.

He has been active in the American Psychological Association; and a former director of training (volunteer) for Columbus AIDS Task Force. Dr. Shannon directed the Freshwater House Clinic in Columbus and has provided both strategic short-term counseling and long-term psychotherapy services. He has written numerous articles for psychological journals and has appeared on "CBS This Morning" and "PBS Viewpoint." In 1985, Dr. Shannon started his current private practice, Shannon and Associates, where he develops and presents professional workshops to medical, allied medical and mental health professionals.
