Double Dominicans
Liz Hughes Weaver '99 and Tony Weaver, Jr. '99 met through mutual friends, but got to
know each other in Mary Lee Peck's Humanities class during their sophomore year.
They began to spend more time together when Tony asked Liz for her help running the
student radio station. Together, the two of them were the 'Tony and Liz Show' and they
aired every Tuesday night on 91.7 The Storm.
"We got to be very good friends through college and then we both graduated a
semester earlier than our class," says Liz. "We went out in the real world
and spent many nights in coffee houses comparing notes and commiserating. We didn't date
each other until a year after graduating. At that time, we were best friends and quickly
decided we could be more."
Tony says that, "Choosing Ohio Dominican was probably one of the greatest decisions
that I ever made. The experience was absolutely priceless and I wouldn't have traded it for
anything. Especially since that is where I met Liz."
Tony proposed to Liz at Highbanks Metro Park in October of 2000 and they were married on
July 21, 2001 in Christ the King Chapel on campus.
