- help in understanding a specific writing assignment
- collaboration and active discussion concerning the organization, development, and coherence of writing
- explanation of patterns of error in writing, such as punctuation mistakes
- a primary focus on improving as a writer, and a secondary focus on creating better papers
- a referral, if necessary, to one of the ARC professional faculty members
- A copy of the writing assignment
- Any background information, including research or works cited materials
- A draft of the paper
- If we are busy with other students, make yourself comfortable while you wait.
- Allow sufficient time to collaborate with us. An ideal session lasts about thirty minutes.
- Be actively engaged and open to our suggestions.
- If you think that we do good work, encourage other ODU students to bring their papers to us.
- Complete an evaluation form to let us know how we are doing
