new car!

I GOT A NEW CAR!! A 2008 Nissan Versa!  Drove it off the lot with 21 miles on it and it was a great day!  I get 27 mpg in the city and 33 on the highway...definitely better gas than my little Hyundai!  Here's a pic of it!

Other than that, I also aced my 12-15 page autobiography for my english class...which was definitely relieving.  Just take the final and I'm completely done with that class!  Cannot wait!

At this point, I only have to take 1 final and that's english.  I have an option to take my marketing exam and have to write a paper of 500 words for PR which I already finished...feeling great at this point!

I scheduled my drug screen at Nationwide Children's and officially start on May 19!  I'm really excited!

This week started off SUPER busy because being the week before finals, everything is due this week and you have to get things done.  Last night I couldn't sleep because I had so many thoughts going through my mind about everything that I had to do.  So, at 5:00am, I did my last paper for PR.  I don't know how or why, but at least it's done.

Today is my roommates 21st birthday so we're going out tonight for her birthday!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY ENNA!  I'll definitely have pictures for that coming up soon.

This week is also filled with a lot of meetings and such so I'm also busy with that as well.  This is our last week for PRSSA meetings and next week we're having a leadership luncheon to plan for next year.  We also have another leadership award ceremony that PRSSA was nominated for, so I'm looking forward to seeing if we won any awards for our new organization.

Here's a picture of our new President of Delta Sigma Pi and me after Initiation!

I am blogging in the summer so you can keep up with my internship experiences and see what I'm up to during the "off-season" lol.  So I'll be blogging next week, so keep on the look out for my next blog after finals!

Good luck to everyone that has finals and have a great week!

HAPPY EARLY MOTHER'S DAY!!

Take care-

max stress = sick fast

So, this week was the week of Initiation which meant Ritual practice every night on top of homework and work too.  Needless to say, with all that built-up stress, I worked up a cold which was no fun especially since I had to talk in front of a group of 40 people.  Initiation ended up going SO well and I burst into a coughing frenzy afterwards, but it was great!  Afterwards we went to BW3's and had a bite to eat with all my Brothers.  And, to make the night SO much better, one of my Brothers whispered in my ear that it was someone else's birthday, so, of course, I announce it to everyone and started singing.  WELL!  I later found out that she just said it was her birthday to get free cake!!  HAHAHA I was dying laughing!  AND to make it worse!  She did the same thing the next morning at Buca di Pepo!! WHATA NERD!  But extremely funny!

Earlier on in the week, we had our Girl's Night Out event and SO many people showed up.  It was a packed house and I was so happy because my feet didn't hurt quite as bad as it did last time I worked the event LOL.

We got everything figured out for ODU Day.  The t-shirts and slap bracelets arrived on Friday so I put the ODU Day stickers on about 150 of them this weekend...super fun I must say...LOL NOT!  But I've heard nothing but great things about it so far and it's only Monday!  I'm really excited to see how it turns out!

I got to watch a little baseball this weekend too, which was definitely a change of pace (usally being at work when they play), but they run-ruled the first game so that was nice to see!  I love going to those games because I can always bet on a dog being down there.  I miss mine:( One of the downfalls living in my own house.  But speaking of dogs...our Visit Coordinator got a new Boxer this weekend, named Diesel...SO CUTE!  She brought him in today, and I got to hold him and he licked my ear.  I want to find a dog shelter around here so I can go play with them from time to time.  I wish there could be a dog that would just stay a puppy...I'd totally buy one!

SO!  I forgot to put the link to Bubble Wrap online so here it is...https://webmail.ohiodominican.edu/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.therightfoot.net/mystuff/whatever/swf/bubblewrap.swf

and a special thanks to Krista for saving more for Cory and I today!  What a nice surprise!  YOU ROCK KRISTA!

This week is ODU Day of course, but also the Walk of FAME.  Delta Sigma Pi is putting on a walk at school to raise awareness for fibromyalgia.  One of my Brother's sister was diagnosed with this disease.  Typically it affects women 35 years and older; however, her sister is just 17.  So, we're raising awareness by putting on a walk around the oval on campus.  It should be a great time and I'm really looking forward to it.  Sooo, if anyone is free this weekend betwenn 11-3pm, come to Ohio Dominican and walk to help raise awareness for this dreadful illness.

I hope everyone has a great week despite the falling temperatures and rainy weather!

Take care-

PRES, VP of Chap Ops, and Internship!

Last week I was super busy with putting together my portfolio and interviews.  Last weekend, I went to the PRSSA PaRtner's Conference at OSU and met with the Nationwide Children's Hospital Media Relations supervisor and ended up getting an interview for the internship I applied for in March after speaking with her.  So, Monday I got an email saying they wanted me to come in for an interview with my portfolio.  There was just one little problem with that...I didn't have a portfolio!  I had a ton of pieces from my internships to put into a portfolio, but never put one together.  So, I spent all of last week running around getting everything to put my portfolio together!  It turned out better than I had ever expected and I have Sara and John to thank for that.  Sara is a graduating senior and a fellow board member in PRSSA and she had just put one together and let me borrow hers for ideas.  And John is our professional advisor for PRSSA and had some great ideas for a portfolio.  I can definitely say being at a small school definitely helped out while I put it together!

SO! What I'm getting to, is that I interviewed with them on Friday and Monday afternoon, I get a call saying that I got it!  They can't formally give me the position because it has to go through HR, but I'm the only one that they sent references to.  WAHOO! I'm so excited!  I feel like I've finally gotten a break!  So after they talk to all of my references, they can officially offer me the position!  (so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!)

That made my overall stressful week so much better!  This week we have practice every night for Delta Sigma Pi's initiation from 8-11pm.  So, with that and other meetings and events AND homework, it'll be a busy week!  But after this weekend is smooth sailing!  Yesterday we had our officer transition.  LONG day!  We met with the current officers to go over what our duties will be.  Well, I don't know if I said it in my last blog was that I was elected Vice President of Chapter Operations!  So, what that entails is basically the position I HAD for PRSSA.  (I'll get to that soon:) ) I keep the minutes, keep everyone organized and make sure they turn in their events, and most importantly keep track of our CEI points.  A lot of pressure, but I think I'll be okay!

SO! Another piece of good news! I was ALSO elected President of PRSSA!  WAHOO! Very exciting for this is a position that I have wanted!  I'm very excited to start next year and have some great officers to work with!  Speaking of PRSSA, Sara and I completed the ODU Day PR Plan which was super fun to do!

There was a lot of good news right there!  As you can tell, I'm pretty excited!

I am on my way to completing my 12 page autobiography too, which I can definitely say feels so good!  I cannot wait to get out of this class.  It's ridiculous.  The professor complained about grading our 10-12 page research paper and now she's assigning another 12-15 page paper?!  I don't get it...extremely frustrating.

We were super busy at SuperGames this weekend too.  Worked about 12 hours on Saturday!  Long day followed by another long day with Deltasig stuff. lol

Well, I'm off to practice for Ritual...I'll let you know how it goes this weekend!

Take care-
Erin

the best is yet to come!

So this past weekend was really fun, but VERY exhausting!

I attend the annual PaRtner's Conference for PRSSA and this year it was held at OSU.  So, while taking a tour of Ohio State pressbox was AWESOME, sitting for almost 9 hours was not.  It was very worthwhile and I met so many great professionals as well as heard some great speakers, but one thing that I filled out on their survey after the conference was to be more flexible and to let us move!  After the conference, I waited around for Chris to get back from his games and we were planning on going to a movie but that definitley didn't happen after the long days we had both had.  But it was still fun, and we're going out to dinner sometime this week between all the meetings I have.

Sunday I worked, and it was crazy...someone had double booked a birthday party and an event with over 400 people in attendance, so it was an absolutle mad-house for a while and I was thrilled to get home and sit down for a couple hours before my long meeting at Deltasig.  We were going through elections and it took a while.  I am now the VP of Chapter Operations, so that's going to be a lot of work, but I'll get through it.  So, I'm not going to say I'm thrilled, but I'm excited to be a part of a prominent organization on campus.  Speaking of prominent organizations...elections for PRSSA is today.  I'm running for President and VP so we'll see how that turns out!

We are going head strong on the ODU Day Committee and things are looking good.  Getting tshirts figured out as well as our fantastic marketing idea which people will see in two weeks!

This week is filled with meetings and next week is the same thing.  Next week we have practice for ritual from 7-9pm everyday so that's going to take up a lot of time I don't have! hah I really wish I didn't have have to go to class today, I just need a day.  And I really don't like my English class, plus I have to write a 12-15 page autobiography by April 30.  I don't think I can write 12 pages about myself...I'm really not that interesting, so we'll see how that goes.

This week I have an informational interview with Clary Communications.  They already have an intern for the summer, but said that he'll always do an informational interview to get to know me a little better, so I'm looking forward to that.

This week we have our spring musical, "Kiss Me Kate" which PRSSA has done a lot work on so I'm looking forward to that too.  Hopefully we have a good turn out, better than what we've had before.  So come and check it out Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at ODU!

Cory and I are going to be playing with some bubblewrap in a couple of minutes...look for that in her blog too!  We're relieving some stress :) thank you admissions for giving us some HUGE bubblewrap for us to play with!

Well I hope everyone has a great week!

This is where I want to be...

Take care!
-Erin
