Pasta, Coffee and Relaxation
I woke up this morning to find out that the Steelers lost on a last second field goal to the Broncos. Bummer. Friday I went to Pompeii again, but this time with my art history class. The second time around was much more in depth and interesting. The people back then weren't much different than people now. Every other building was a bar/cafe. Later that night my roomate's four friends from Prague came in. They're here till Wednsday so we've been hanging out with them a good bit, showing them the city and such. Last night we were walking back from a pub and we took a short cut to show them St. Peter's Square at night, all lit up and empty. It's a great sight, and it's fun to see peoples initial reactions to it. We weren't planning on going to Prague, but now I think my roomates and I are going to make the trip. It sounds interesting and the Czech Republic isn't on the Euro yet so everything is cheap. Midterms went better than expected. The art history one wasn't too hard and neither was the political science one. I've found that the classes here are easier, but that my usual motivation isn't quite there. You can't help but absorb the Italian cultural traits, meaning that the main things on your agenda are pasta, coffee and relaxation. Maybe that's not a bad thing--simplicity. It'll be hard coming back to the American rat race. On that note, I think I'll go get some reading in. If you need me, I'll be down a narrow, cobblestone alley in an Italian coffee shop. Arrivederci!
