It's hard to believe it will be November in a few days. Sometimes I feel I've been here one solid year, while other times it seems I've only just blinked my eyes coming off the plane. Crazy, crazy. Anyway, I had an eventful Saturday night. My roomates and I went out to a few pubs and met up with friends. After they closed, half of us wanted to go home, myself included, and half wanted to go to a club. Well, I walked home with a couple people then veered off, grabbed a bite at an all night sandwich stand (it was no Steak N Shake, though, I can tell you that) and walked to the door of my apartment complex. Then, when I tried to open the door, the key wasn't in all the way and it broke off in the hole. So here it is 2:30 in the morning and I'm locked out of my place. There's nothing I could do so I sat down and waited for my roomates/someone walking in. An older Italian guy camealong but he couldn't get his key to work. He tries to talk to me, but realizes I can't speak Italian, and becomes so frustrated that he just kicks the door and it flies open! I dove to catch it and we both laughed afterwards. Downside is now I have to go get a new key made. Bummer. That will be hilarious--me in the hardware store trying to explain this little episode.
The next day, I woke up early, went to Naples and saw some old school Italian culture. They aren't as heavily infiltrated by tourists as Rome. Maybe it has something to do with their reputation for crime, and not just pick-pocketing, but muggings and such. The food was excellent, especially the pizza since it was invented there. The culture is much more authentic (they work even less than Romans, if you can believe it) and the city reflects that. There are overgrown plants hanging off balconies and laundry pinned up everywhere on clotheslines. The famous Bay of Naples is very beautiful, too, and I took a couple pictures. Other than that I saw OSU is still rolling along nicely. Awsome. We don't have school this Thursday so I get a four day weekend and a couple of us are going to Barcelona, Spain. It should be a blast. I'll keep you posted, whoever it is "you" are that reads this. Well, Byebye.
