The Blizzard of '08, disrupted B-Day Plans & Midterms

Well, I got out of the dorms Friday just in the nick of time. My sister called and informed me of the huge snowstorm coming our way (ever since college I never watch the weather forecast, I don't know why). So I brought some books over to study for midterms and we hunkered down until Sunday. It really wasn't that bad. I got to play with my niece for a few days, watched the Lord of the Rings Trilogy (which I never thought I'd like, but actually did) and played Guesstures (think charades with a timer). However, my parents couldn't make it up until Sunday, so they had to cancel the hotel reservations, disrupting my B-Day plans. No biggie, though. I still had a great (early) birthday celebration.

We went to Easton and ate at the Cheesecake factor, which was deliecious, then stopped over to Barnes and Noble where I picked up the the new Thelonious Monk album live with John Coltrane at Carnegie Hall. Also, my parents bought me a new phone, but I've needed a new one for awhile. I've been using the original blackberry, circa 2001. An antique, if you will. Plus I've always wanted to use the word "circa" in everyday conversation. I'd suggest trying it out just to see people's reactions.

My actual Birthday is this Wednesday the 12th. But I'll be thoroughly bogged down in midterms and getting ready for Florida to really notice. Check out my schedule for the next few days:

• Write English paper on John ashbery, prepare in class presentation on Ashbery (both for Tuesday)
• Go to the DMV and buy new driver's license
• Get my head shaved (it's hot down in FLA)
• Study for American Lit. midterm (Wed.)
• Study for Poly Sci midterm, prepare notes for in class essay (Thurs.)
• Pack Wed. night for Florida
• Leave for C-bus airport around 2pm on Thurs.

I think that's it, but I could be leaving something out. Anyway, I can't wait to get onto the Beach come Friday morning, take a book (I'll be reading Rabbit Redux by John Updike) and grab a now-completely-legal beer and just relax.
