Alaska: Part 3 (Falling out but getting back in)

Hey everybody!!! I hope everyone’s summer is going as well as mine up here in Alaska. Well I know it’s been a while since my last entry and that’s with good reason; we just recently finished a stretch where we played 19 games in 18 days. Needless to say that’s a pretty tough thing to go through, but I hope to go through that kind of scenario for a long time while playing pro-ball. Going through that kind of schedule gives you a humongous appreciation for what guys in the big leagues and minors go through each summer. The difference between us and them is that they may go through that kind of stretch three or four times a season!! Well in that stretch of games we struggled a little bit and I struggled on the mound as well. I haven’t thrown as well as I would have liked up here, but (and the most important thing is the but) I have learned a ton. I will definitely be able to take away something from each of my struggles and successes this summer and use them to better myself for ODU this spring. I may not go away with great numbers this summer, but I know I have worked real hard and at the end of the day hard work always wins out. Well after our long stretch of ball we got an off day, and 6 of us from the Pilots decided to take a little whitewater rafting trip. We rafted level 3,4, and 5 rapids; rapids are rated on a scaled of 1-6 with 1 being pretty calm and 6 being un-rideable. So you can tell that rapids we took on were definitely serious stuff. It was an absolute blast; it’s one of the better days of my life. I got to see a part of Alaska not many get to see and I got to be put in that situation just because of a game I like to play. It was really neat to go through the rapids with a few of my teammates, especially when we fell out, I fell out twice. It’s definitely a day none of us will soon forget. Well we’ve only got a few more days left here in the AK, but we still may have a little more baseball after we leave. What I mean by that is there’s a chance my team will travel to Wichita to play in the NBC World Series. This would extend our season another week or two, which I would have no problem with. Like I said before you can follow our team at www.glacierpilots.com, definitely give it a look!!! Take it easy yall!
