Hey! One week of school
down! We had our first game over the weekend. It was at McKendree
College in Illinois but near St. Louis. Looong bus ride. We had a short
practice Saturday morning and then we headed out. We did the usual-
some homework, and movies. O and food—there is Always food! We ride in
a nice charter bus so even though the trip took about 8 hours, it
didn’t seem bad. We stayed in a hotel that night and had our game
yesterday at 1:00 their time. I had to play defense, which isn’t my
normal position, so I was a little nervous before the game. It went
good though, my teammates helped keep in formation. We lost 1-0 but I
still think things are looking good for the season. We’ve got a good
base to build on because we work so hard.
Because our game
was so far away we didn’t have a lot of fans. It worked out well that
one of my friends from high school has an internship in St. Louis for
the summer—she came and cheered for us! It was really good to see her—a
couple of my friends are in other cities for internships, it stunk not
having them around over the summer but they’ll all be back at OSU in a
couple of weeks and then I’ll get to see them a lot more!!! I really
need to get serious about an internship for myself. Everyone I know
that has had one says they learned a ton. Whether they loved it or
learned that they wouldn’t want to have it as a career. We have a
Career Service Center that helps students find jobs and internships. I
took a class with the Director of the center and it helped me figure
out what I wanted to do in school. My favorite parts were the
personality assessments—learning about mine and my friends’. It helped
me understand why I didn’t really like certain areas of study and some
of my tendencies. Anyways…I didn’t get home until almost midnight last
night from our game. Thankfully, since a lot of us had class this
morning, the ride home was a lot faster! We figured we’d get back
closer to one. I’m a little tired, but we don’t have practice today so
I might be able to get a nap in later
