Winter Break! TURTLE IS ALIVE!

Well, I didn't get to hang lights outside because we ran out of working lights but we did hang a wreath on our door that my mom made us last year!  And our tree looked awesome!  It is still up but really realllly dry so we don't leave the lights on long.  We should really get around to taking it down...break has been busy...working, seeing family and friends, working.  It's been long, but this year's break has gone a lot faster than years' past.  For one thing I didn't have to move out the dorms because I live off campus and my home is the same all year round.  Basically, my days have been similar to school days minus school and plus work.  For work I have longer hours than class but it evens out because there's no homework!  The only downside is getting up earlier--I went back to the golf course I worked at over the summer.  Over the summer I had to be there at 6, now it's 7, so I sleep-in a little.  I'm a night owl though-- and with friends all back from their own colleges it's hard to get enough sleep.  The upside to early mornings, is that I'm done by 2:30.  The work is easier than the summer too, because most of it is indoors.  I've been painting with this industrial stuff and it doesn't come off unless I use to goo at work, so I keep coming home different colors!  Surprisingly, there have still been a ton of golfers around because our weather has been soooo nice.  The course had a record breaking revenue for the month of December.  Our holiday work party was really fun--we went to Buckeye Cafe and played videogames for almost 2 hours--and I beat everyone at air hockey!

OUR BEA-UTIFUL TREE!  (not the smelly one--the one that Kara won off the radio!)

Christmas was great!  I got to see some family I hadn't seen in awhile and on New Year's Eve I party-hopped with a couple of my best friends!  I've actually had a little time to read for pleasure since I'm not reading for class and I've decided that I read a lot faster when I don't have to...hmmm...what else do I want to share?  O, some friends from Maryland came to visit my roommate and I over the weekend and might get to come back later this month!  We rarely get to see them...I'd like to go there sometime--I've never seen D.C.  Also I went running for the first time in over 2 months and it was Amazing!  but made my knee really sore.  The doctor says the next step is getting it scoped so that's happening Friday...o joy--hopefully they won't find much and I won't have to be on crutches a long time.  I think the worst part is not knowing what's coming. AND THETA WOKE UP!  My roommate Kara has this itty bitty baby turtle named Theta that is about 2 inches long.  And right after she got him a new tank about 2 months ago...he buried himself!  She found out for his type of turtle it is rare for baby turtles to hibernate, but he certainly did.  We were afraid we somehow killed him...I was afraid he wasn't going to wake up because the ground is supposed to stay moist but if you put too much water in they can drown.  So I feared we'd either let him dry up or drown--apparently the happy medium was found because the other day Kara saw him staring at her through the tank!  Yay!  I hope everyone had a great Christmas and new years and that someone has gotten to sled for me!  The snow will probably come this Spring....we'll see.

Ry and I made an Octopus Cake for Molly's Birthday :P  (it took 4.5 hours! good thing Ry is great with cooking and art...)
