Snow Days and JUBILEE
Sorry, it's been awhile! The internet was down at my house earlier this week and then the week just sort of got away from me...anyways, that extra study time I was hoping for actually came! The next day school did get cancelled--I was convinced it wouldn't be, so I was up at 6 to get some extra studying in--because that lackluster indifferent feeling I had the night before, which I thought might have been from my medicine, had quickly warn off and I'd begun to freak out. I did a little dance when I finally got the email that it was cancelled while I was studying and then I promptly went back to bed! I got caught up on some studying and various other things that day and was pleasantly surprised when school was again cancelled on Wednesday! I felt like a little kid all over again--school rarely get cancelled in college.
Shoveling the driveway was a pain but I have some great neighbors and one of them saw me struggling with the icy snow and brought his snowblower over. I was sooo thankful! I got to eat at a new restaurant in Columbus on Valentine's Day--Noodles & Company--very tasty. And I went shopping with my roommate--she got some red high heels, so now every time I see them I have to sing the country song In My Red High Heels :) That night it only took me 1 WHOLE hour to clean off my car to go to practice--I think it took so long because between my roommates and I we only have 3 miniture ice scrapers--not the long ones, or the ones with brushes, just the miny ones. I was back to school on Thursday and everything was a whirlwind from then until I left for Jubilee on Friday around 1:00.
Jubilee is this amazing conference I heard about through Campus Ministry last year. Who ever signs up, drives down to Pittsburgh on Friday and stays all weekend at the Hilton downtown--worshiping with great bands, listening to speakers, and finding out about organizations to become apart of or help out (internships/summer jobs too). They are about 2,000 college students from all over that come. One of the speakers had the lead singer from the Fray call the conference and we listened to him talk about being a Christian via satellite. YouTube had a room set up on Saturday where people could make videos that'll get posted soon if they haven't already. Char and I planned to make one but we just ended up doing other things instead. We also heard from the man who headed up an investigation in Rwanda on genocide (thru International Justice Mission in DC). And did you know there are still 27 million slaves in the world (Nat. Geographic Sept. 2003)? I didn't...I learned a lot, got some cool free stuff, and got to hang out with friends in a Hilton all weekend! I had a great time! These pictures are from Jubilee...

Worship about to start in the Main Ballroom

I have no idea what they are doing because I wasn't there right then, but it looks like they are having fun hanging out in their hotel room--and perhaps about to break Liz's other arm

Char, Kristen, Jacob, and I about ready to get on the trolley/subway to go to dinner!

And this is actually from last year's Jubilee but I love it--Dwayne wore our ODU flag and ran around the ballroom--craziness.
