Mr. Jingles

We found the mouse....well Thomas found him and I won't bore you with all the details, but now he has a pet mouse.  He doesn't know any tricks...yet, however, he has his own cage and special mouse food--not bad for being bought as snake-food right?  I guess feeder mice aren't supposed to live long, but this mouse has already escaped death 5 times and his name is Mr. Jingles.  Enough said.

I turned in my big psych paper yesterday.  What a relief!!!  Even though I still have a couple of big assignments, and of course exams, that was the thing I was most worried about.  And last week we had a spring scrimmage scheduled for this past Saturday when I was planning to catch up on homework, so I had to find other times to do that and finish my paper.  Although I was a little nervous about getting everything done, I'd rather play soccer than do homework any day.  And it felt great to play again!  We played Akron on Saturday and lost, but we played good soccer against a good team.  Sunday we played four small-sided games at Kenyon.  I drove 6 of my teammates in a suburban and we stopped at this ice cream place, on the way home, in Mount Vernon that Coach normally takes us to if have a game there.  That's what the pictures below are.  Also I got certified to drive the Ohio Dominican vans for future road trips...

Candid shot-haha

yea...we're dorks

Monday I got to go to a local Middle School with other athletes from ODU, MVNU, and Urbana.  We worked with 6th and 7th graders making posters about words that would be good to keep in mind for their standardized tests next week.  It was a lot fun!  That afternoon Bruce Brown, a special presenter from the NAIA, spoke to all of our sports teams about the five core values of the NAIA (Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Servant Leadership, Sportsmanship) and what it means to be an ahtlete.  He is a great speaker!  I thought it was cool he came to ODU and we heard him in person because Coach has us watch a video of him every pre-season.

This Friday is ODU Day---all of our afternoon classes are cancelled and there are a bunch of activities on campus.  It's sortof our last hurrah of the year.  I'll be playing in the PowderPuff game that night!  It's always a good time--and then in a few weeks we'll be in England!  I'm trying to stay focused on school--only a few weeks left!  And for all you seniors out there--I know senioritis set in a looong time ago, but you're almost done!  Enjoy you last month or so!
