Soccer Banquet
This is me and a few of my teammates at our Sports Banquet earlier tonight....

All of the sports teams get together at the end of the year and eat dinner and get recognized. Tonight I was given a Champion of Character award. It's a new award that the school started this year and one guy and one girl from athletics get it. Adam from the golf team got it for the guys. The walk to the podium seemed a little long by myself and our tables were clear in the back, but I didn't trip and I was definitely honored to receive it :)
Today was a good start to the week, even though I am still waiting on my passport so I can go to England! I tried calling to see what my passport's status was and I never got ahold of anyone. They are being flooded with calls and instead of being put on hold, you are just supposed to call back. In fact, they take calls until midnight maybe I'll try again............nope- nobody. That makes me a little nervous, although I still have to make it through my classes before I can go too. I know the next week or so is going to fly by, but there is sooo much work left to do. I haven't even had a chance to think about packing or what I need to take to England. Well, there I thought about it briefly and decided I have no time for it yet.
ODU Day was fun. I don't have pictures from it yet. I got my caricature drawn and Char told the guy drawing it that I like The Beatles, so I am holding a sign that says "Hey Jude" and they are in the background. I also tie-dyed a t-shirt, ate (of course there was free food), and watched my friends jump around in the inflatables. I didn't partake in the jumping or bull riding, like last year, because I had a few bumps from Thursday's practice and I didn't want to hurt myself. I only played for one down in the Powderpuff game because of that too. Some of my teammates and fellow upperclassmen had a great game though. We won 6-0. It was pretty intense.
Unfortunately, one of my teammates got knocked over in the game and broke her arm! I couldn't believe it. She told me she thought it was broken but I honestly thought she was just exagerating. Then I found out she had left to go to the hospital. She got her cast today and it is clear up her arm so she won't be able to play in England. The only semi-cool thing about it, is that it's neon orange. I don't think the hospital had pink. One of my other teammates was in a car accident last week. I went to pick her up with a few other teammates right after it happened. It was crazy--she definitely needs a new car. She was wearing her seatbelt (always buckle up!) and is okay. I was glad to see her back at practice today. She's just been taking it easy for awhile.
I figured Friday would be my last completely free night until I get back from England, so I went to visit some friends after the game. When I went to leave their place on Saturday, I found that my car had been broken into. The driver's side window was shattered! I guess there had been 7 other break-ins reported that morning--so someone must have been on a rampage. I thought I had parked in a safe spot...I did leave some CDs sitting out, which I know is a no-no, but they must have not liked my taste in music because they were still there. In fact, they didn't take anything! I could tell they tried to take my stereo--it was broken--still there though. Actually, not having music bothered me the most driving home--the weather was nice so once I got as much of the glass cleaned up as I could (with a HUGE help from my friends who cleaned while I gave my statement to the police) it was just like driving with the windows down, which I don't mind at all. It was the volume knob I kept reaching for. Just a side note: the last sentence of my statement after describing what I did and what I found was "I have no window.". Well ol' Leroy (my car, affectionately named by one of my best friends) is on the mend. Not to jinx myself...but I will probably have my car back before the passport.
