ENGLAND here I come!!!
I was right about not having any free time until I get back from England, for the most part. I was able--or more so, I just made a point--to stop by the annual Cinco de Mayo block party back home on Saturday. It was fun and Crazy, as usual. I stayed long enough to sing one karoke song--Love Shack.
And I was right that I would get Leroy (my car) back before my passport. However, today I can safely say, as I sit here, that my car is in the driveway and my passport is on my desk!!! Last week, I finally got ahold of the passport people---well actually, first I got classical (a.k.a. "on hold" music) and was estatic to find that such music existed and that I didn't have to call back for once---and when I talked to someone, she said an email would be sent to rush my passport along since I was leaving in less than two weeks. I was still a little nervous, because it should have been here, and she said to call back this week and check on it. I wanted to ask What if no one answers?! but I didn't.
Then at soccer practice the next day, my only other teammate who didn't have her passport said, "Did your dad tell you they are sending our passports?" ...and I replied, "Oh good, you got ahold of them too?" ..."No, someone called my mom--your dad knows the governor or something." To that I just laughed and said "Who knows?!" because our next soccer drill was starting. As far as I knew, my dad didn't know the governor. I was relieved to hear the passports were on the way, but very confused. I forgot about it, until I was on the phone with my dad later that night. Turns out, I was right about that too--my dad doesn't know the governor. Apparently, he was discussing my dilemma with some friends and one of them suggested calling someone in the our Congressman's office....this led to involving a series of people, who I don't know, and somehow "they" put a rush on mine and my teammate's passports, for free! No expidition costs! All I know is that now we both have them, clear from a processing center in Louisiana! I feel like we got VIP treatment--and doesn't that only happen to people with "connections" or a lot of money? I guess not :)
Last week, I dogsat some more (maybe that's what I should do after college!). I had about an hour commute to school, which made me thankful for my house and location. A friend stayed with me and we studied for finals and drove together--that was nice because she made everything more entertaining. We had our Admissions end of the year party on Wednesday--Congrats Molli and Phil on being Student Ambassadors of the Year! Thursday we had an informational meeting about England! I am so psyched! I am still trying not to think about it much because of finals...
Guess what? This may be the hardest finals week I have had, EVER. It just so happens it is the same week I leave the country. It's funny, England seems so far away and I leave in 3 days. At least my two exams are out of the way. I had my hardest one today and now all I can do is hope that what studying I did do, paid-off. No use worrying after the fact! ...I think I did okay (fingers crossed!). Now I have a paper due tomorrow and a project due Thursday. I will be free Thursday at 6! Then I think it might register that I am leaving---if I'm not to busy rushing around packing and listening to my parents talk about staying with a buddy everywhere I go, protecting my money/passport etc. haha--if I make it to the plane...that's what I keep telling myself...just get to the plane!
Alright, I am cutting myself off---So here's the scoop for upcoming posts-- If I have a chance, I may let you know how packing is going after finals. Otherwise, plan on hearing from me in a couple of weeks--hopefully I'll have some good stories about traveling with the my team and the guys' team in England--and plan on pictures!
