Moving Out

I've been working in admissions the past few weeks--helping pack up the offices and filing folders so that the move will be as organized as possible.  This Thursday and Friday the Admissions Office is moving across the street to the first floor of Sansbury Hall (an upper classmen dorm).  We are moving because our building, Lynam Hall, is being torn down so that the new student center construction can begin.  The new student center should be done not by this school year but next school year.  I'm bummed I won't be around to use it!  I did get to take advantage of the dorms, field, and weight room/training room that all opened my freshman year though. 

It's kind-of sad leaving Lynam.  I've worked there 3 years and many other people have worked there that long or years longer.  I'm used to all its' little quirks and where everything is.  Like how you have to pull on the front door sometimes before pushing it so it'll open.  Lynam is an old house that was actually the first guys' dormitory when men were first allowed to attend St. Mary of the Springs College (before it became Ohio Dominican College and then ODU).  If it were fixed up it would be an awesome place to live.

Speaking of dormitories, one of the first roommates I ever had from freshman year has a birthday tomorrow!  So tonight I'm going out with my old roommates and a bunch of our friends.  I'm really excited, especially since I don't get to hang out with them all that often.  We didn't know each other before we lived together.  In fact, we all played phone tag and I didn't even talk to them before we moved in.  Having a crazy roommate was my worst college fear--over classes and food and everything else.  But I lucked out.  We all got along really well, and grew to be great friends. 

I went to The Fray concert last night!  It was awesome!  I saw a lot of people that graduated from ODU last year.  Including my old R.A. from the dorms and a guy that has been in the peace corp. for a year since graduation.  He is only home for 2 weeks and then he leaves again.  I ran into my neighbor that's like my sister, one of my new teammates, and one of my advisees too!  I had sooo much fun!  The concert was at Germain Polaris Ampitheater.  And that is my favorite place to see concerts.  I love being outside and I would much rather sit on the lawn and dance than sit in some stadium.  I guess at the end of this concert season they are tearing it down too :(   I hope they build another outdoor concert place soon!
