I need a job! aka $
My goal for this week: Take more steps to try and find an employer ...
I would like to have another job besides the one I have at school--as soon as possible. I would like it to be something related to my major so that I can get some more experience before I graduate. I get emails from professors about possible internships in my field, so there are options. I just need to take Action.
Also, I really need money. I don't think I have ever felt so stressed about money in my life. It's not like my world is crumbling or anything, but my bank accounts are running low and I hate it if I have to mooch off Mom and Dad. Student loans get deferred for 6 months after you graduate, but I feel like the countdown to graduation brings loan payment that much closer and is a countdown to getting kicked off my parents' insurance (because I'm no longer a student) and unemployment. For the health insurance part, I guess I should really take Mom's advice and start eating my vitamins ...
Good News: We have a great Career Development Center at ODU. I registered with them to go to a CareerFest this Friday and I am scheduling to meet with someone who can look over my resume and discuss things before I go. There will be around 100 Employers at the CareerFest. Since I registered, I get a list from the Career Development Center of who all be there and I can decide which employers I want to talk to or one's that I don't have a lot of interest in before I even go.
I also need to pick out an outfit--I'm not one to really stress about clothes, but I need to dress professionally and I have a limited selection for that area in my closet. Perhaps, it's time to raid a friend's closet!
Alright, I promise not to always write about the "Job Hunt"--It's just what is on my mind right now ... hopefully I'll have some good news about it soon!
Here's a picture of my two new roommates--My brother, Kyle, and his pup, Lacie :) It's been nice having him here because he likes to cook and we have already made some pretty tasty dinners. I had not been that motivated to cook here because it was hard to cook for just myself or me and my other roommate. Plus, fresh food goes bad fast when only one person is eating it, so we were more into buying and making boxed dinners and microwaveable stuff. Kyle and I cleaned out our kitchen last week and threw out some food that I think was left behind from an old roommate I had a couple years ago ... GROSS, I know. We didn't open it! Then we went grocery shopping (which I love now that live on my own and can pick out whatever I want!) and stocked the whole fridge with fresh food and planned some meals. Maybe we will be healthier eaters or just eat better food more often because Kyle moved in! I know our kitchen has never looked this clean before!
