PRES, VP of Chap Ops, and Internship!
Last week I was super busy with putting together my portfolio and interviews. Last weekend, I went to the PRSSA PaRtner's Conference at OSU and met with the Nationwide Children's Hospital Media Relations supervisor and ended up getting an interview for the internship I applied for in March after speaking with her. So, Monday I got an email saying they wanted me to come in for an interview with my portfolio. There was just one little problem with that...I didn't have a portfolio! I had a ton of pieces from my internships to put into a portfolio, but never put one together. So, I spent all of last week running around getting everything to put my portfolio together! It turned out better than I had ever expected and I have Sara and John to thank for that. Sara is a graduating senior and a fellow board member in PRSSA and she had just put one together and let me borrow hers for ideas. And John is our professional advisor for PRSSA and had some great ideas for a portfolio. I can definitely say being at a small school definitely helped out while I put it together!
SO! What I'm getting to, is that I interviewed with them on Friday and Monday afternoon, I get a call saying that I got it! They can't formally give me the position because it has to go through HR, but I'm the only one that they sent references to. WAHOO! I'm so excited! I feel like I've finally gotten a break! So after they talk to all of my references, they can officially offer me the position! (so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!)
That made my overall stressful week so much better! This week we have practice every night for Delta Sigma Pi's initiation from 8-11pm. So, with that and other meetings and events AND homework, it'll be a busy week! But after this weekend is smooth sailing! Yesterday we had our officer transition. LONG day! We met with the current officers to go over what our duties will be. Well, I don't know if I said it in my last blog was that I was elected Vice President of Chapter Operations! So, what that entails is basically the position I HAD for PRSSA. (I'll get to that soon:) ) I keep the minutes, keep everyone organized and make sure they turn in their events, and most importantly keep track of our CEI points. A lot of pressure, but I think I'll be okay!
SO! Another piece of good news! I was ALSO elected President of PRSSA! WAHOO! Very exciting for this is a position that I have wanted! I'm very excited to start next year and have some great officers to work with! Speaking of PRSSA, Sara and I completed the ODU Day PR Plan which was super fun to do!
There was a lot of good news right there! As you can tell, I'm pretty excited!
I am on my way to completing my 12 page autobiography too, which I can definitely say feels so good! I cannot wait to get out of this class. It's ridiculous. The professor complained about grading our 10-12 page research paper and now she's assigning another 12-15 page paper?! I don't get it...extremely frustrating.
We were super busy at SuperGames this weekend too. Worked about 12 hours on Saturday! Long day followed by another long day with Deltasig stuff. lol
Well, I'm off to practice for Ritual...I'll let you know how it goes this weekend!
Take care-
Erin
