Convocation Speech
Hey All,
Wow,
what an extreme week!! My past week was
one filled with a multitude of things, I had to write and deliver a speech for
the University Convocation, we had the first Student Government meeting, and
the homework begins to pile up. The
Convocation speech was definitely the biggest stress.
Ohhh,
well, your probably wondering, what is Convocation? Well to quote my speech “Convocation is the official beginning of this University
year. Convocation is a fresh start, a
time to begin anew, and to set a methodology for the year.” It is
basically where the whole University convenes and holds opening ceremonies,
like pre-game.
As Student Government President I was to
deliver an address, Bishop Griffin the President of the University also
spoke. I was kinda taken by surprise, I
knew I had to do it, but the week was here before I knew it!! It took some vigilant thought to decide what
I was to speak about, and then once I decided the rest fell very nicely into
place, with the help from some friends.
The title of my address was A life
of Integrity, A sentiment that I try to live by and wanted to share with
others. It took the help of my friends
Phill and Ryan, as well as Mandy Powell from the Student Activities office, for
me to have a finished product and work on presentation. In the end, it came out great. I was more pleased than I thought I would be,
it was a great success with the audience as well, especially a quote when I
took off my glasses.
Immediately
following Convocation we had the ground breaking and blessing for the
site where we are to build the new residence hall, I am posting that picture as
well. It was fun to wear the hard hats,
I even got one to keep! I have much
going on this week as well and I hope to have more variety in my next post.
So, until next time,
Jeremiah
