"I don't know...oh...oh...oh"

5. Hello everyone!

Well my first week of school went pretty well. I survived!

The classes are a lot different than Ohio Dominican. I haveabout 200-300 people in my lectures and 30-40 people in the tutorials. Some ofmy classes are just on Mondays and Fridays. Others are on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. I do not know why the set up is this way. I found signing up forclasses a nightmare because it.

New Zealand universities require the students to be moreindependent than in the United States. I think the hardest thing for me thisschool year will be motivating myself to do the work and not wait until thelast minute.

I was a little stressed last week because I was hit with somuch information about all the courses and what is coming up and due dates.AHHHH!!! It is always like that when you start a new semester. It will be fineonce I get into the swing of things and be a bit more organized.

I am already heading down a slipper slope. First week ofschool and I already missed a class. Who does that? The first week is usuallythe easiest. Well technically, I did go. I was just 30 mins. late. Some how mywatch became a half hour slow. I thought I was early to class and it turned outI only caught the last 15 minutes. I had to do the walk of shame. I had toclimb the lecture hall stairs to almost the very top to find a seat whileeveryone stared at the late girl. Oh well.

I am so excited. I am going to Abel Tasman National Parkthis weekend. It is on the South Island. I already need a break from school.Arcadia set it up and I am so excited about seeing everyone from my group.

I also went to the activity fair on my campus last week. Igot a lot of free things. My favorite is a sheet of magnets that have kiwiwords on it. I am learning what they all mean. I haven’t added them to myvocabulary yet. I do say flat (apartment) and tomato sauce (ketchup) quiteoften.

Examples from the magnets:

Sweet as

Heaps

Chilly bin

L&P

Gum-boots

Togs

Mate

Kai

Jandals

I would tell you what they all mean, but I like the idea ofcoming home and using them and having no one not know what I am talking about much better.

P.S. My title came from a song that is played ALL THE TIME here. It is called "Why Does Love Do This To Me" by the Exponets. It is very easy to sing and catchy!!!

P.S.S. I have the internet in my flat!!!!!
