Work-Study

What is Federal Work-Study?

The Federal Work-Study Program provides part-time employment for undergraduate students that demonstrate financial need in accordance with federal guidelines, allowing them to earn money to help pay for educational expenses.

Federal Work-Study wages will be at least the current minimum wage, but may be higher according to the type of work you do and the skills required. Work-Study awards are not grants that are directly applied to one’s tuition bill. Rather, work-study earnings are paid biweekly based on the number of hours worked. Income earned through the Work-Study Program is not exempt from federal or state taxation. Therefore each student must complete the appropriate documentation prior to starting to work.

A student establishes eligibility for participation in the Federal Work-Study Program by completing the FAFSA. See Apply for Financial Aid.
