Sam Walk Student of the Week

Computer Science

2017

Columbus, OH

Why did you choose to attend Ohio Dominican University?
I chose to attend Ohio Dominican University because it was close to home and it offered a small school atmosphere.

What is your most memorable moment at ODU?
I recently interned with IGC Software for a year where I did reports development. They treated me like a normal employee which taught me what it's like to work in the real world. I am currently interning at JPMorgan Chase & Co. where I’m learning what it's like to be a part of a big company and work on cutting edge technology. In fact, I already have a job lined up at JPMorgan beginning in their Technology Analyst program.

What is your most memorable moment at ODU?
My first programming class with Dr. Alae Loukili is my most memorable moment because it's when I realized what I wanted to do with my life.

What is one unique experience you've had at ODU that has helped you grow personally, professionally and/or spiritually?
One experience that stands out is when a team of me and four other Computer Science students entered and won a hackathon at JPMorgan. That experience has led to life-changing opportunities for me.

Why are you proud to be an ODU student?
I am proud to attend Ohio Dominican because I don't feel like I'm just a number. At ODU, I know my professors will go out of their way to help me.
