� Meet with Director. Before submitting your deposit and agreeing to participate in a non-Ohio Dominican University program, you must discuss your program of choice with the Director of the International Office and your academic advisor. You must have already completed and been approved by the International Office to study abroad.
� Academic Advisor. Make an appointment with your academic advisor to discuss your program and courses. Make sure your academic advisor and the divisional chair sign your Academic Background Form. You must get your courses evaluated before you depart the U.S. to ensure you will receive credit upon return to ODU.
� Financial Aid. Make an appointment with your financial aid advisor. Most students are able to apply their loans to the semester they will be abroad. However, this must be arranged before departing the U.S.
� Passport. Obtain or update your passport four to five months prior your departure. Also check visa requirements for your host country through your study abroad sponsoring agency or through the International Office. Visit: http://travel.state.gov/passport for more information.
� Submit the following to the International Office:
- Study Abroad Application
- Copy of your study abroad program application, description of program of study, course descriptions, and acceptance letter from the program of your choice
- Credit-Pre-Approval Form
- Official Transcript
- Parental Consent Form
- Waiver and Release Agreement
- Power of Attorney Form
- Insurance Coverage Certification
- Student Participant Responsibility Form
� Register your trip with the U.S. Department of State. Please visit: https://travelregistration.state.gov. By registering your trip, the U.S. embassy or consulate where you are traveling to will be able to reach you in case of emergency. You will need to bring a copy of your registration to the International Office. Please note that you will have to print the page before hitting the submit button.
