Why Study Abroad?

Switzerland1. Study Abroad is an enriching, life changing experience. The range of knowledge that you will gain of other cultures and languages while studying abroad is something that cannot be matched in a typical classroom.

2. Spending time abroad opens a window to a world of new experiences. Students who study abroad deepen their understanding of international, political, social, and economic issues.

3. You gain perspective on the world. Students who study abroad return with a better perspective on world affairs and a broader understanding and appreciation of their own country and its way of life.

4. Study abroad increases your marketability in the work force. Employers are increasingly looking for graduates who have studied abroad, because they posses skills that are valuable in the work place. These include cross-cultural communication, flexibility, adaptability, resilience, and multi-language proficiency.

5. If not now, when? There will most likely never be another time in your life that you are able to move to another country for an extended period of time and fully experience the culture and educational systems of that area of the world. This is a once in a lifetime experience!

If you are interested....Work with your advisor to determine which semester will best fit into your academic schedule. Most students choose to study abroad during their junior year. Other options exist based on your academic plan.
