Study Abroad with Ohio Dominican
ODU Roma
The Ohio Dominican University Roma Program is a semester-long program where students from both ODU and outside universities are able to come together to study in the Eternal City: Rome, Italy.
History and beauty surround you at every turn in Rome. Study among the monuments of the ancient and medieval city and relax in the cafés and piazzas defined by splashing fountains. Rome is an ideal environment in which to study art, architecture, archaeology, business, history, sociology, language and more.
Ohio Dominican is pleased to announce that beginning in Fall 2008 we will be partnering with Cultural Experiences Abroad ( CEA) to allow our students to study at CEA’s GlobalCampus in Rome. This will allow ODU students to take a wide range of classes with local faculty members who are experts in their fields. The faculty will help students use their class work to discover Rome. ODU students will also learn and live with others students from colleges and universities around the United States.
Students will be supported by three full-time staff in Rome with years of experience helping American students gain the most from their study abroad experience. The staff will be on hand to guide students around Rome and Italy and will provide helpful information about living in Rome. The staff will also plan activities for the students in Rome and can serve as resources as they plan independent travel adventures.
Students will be housed in furnished apartments with other American students. Located within a residential neighborhood filled with beautiful buildings and parks, the apartments will be within a 15-20 minute commute from the Villa where classes will be held. These apartments are located in buildings where Italian live and work allowing our students to interact with Italians daily. Local shops and restaurants will be within walking distance. Students will also have easy access to Rome’s metro and bus system that will take students all over Rome and even to the beach outside of Rome!
During the semester, the students will travel on two overnight excursions to other cities in Italy such as such as Siena and Naples and two day excursions to cities such as Florence and Assisi.
If you are in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 2.75, you will be eligible to apply to study in ODU’s Roma Program. Space is limited, so students are encouraged to apply early. Students must have no academic or judicial/disciplinary actions pending.
