BIG CHANGES to library databases!
Effective July 1, 2002, the Library and OhioLINK will introduce new databases
offering more journal titles and full text, a stronger set of academic
and peer-reviewed material, and larger backfiles.
Databases to be cancelled 7/1/02
- Periodical Abstracts
- ABI/Inform
- Newspaper Abstracts
Corresponding databases to be added 7/1/02
- Academic Search Premier
- Business Source Premier
- Newspaper Source
Several other EBSCO full-text products will also become available. These
include: Alt-Health Watch, Business Wire News, Computer Source, Health Source
(Nursing/Academic Edition), the Professional Development Collection, the
Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection, the Religion and Philosophy
Collection, and the Sociological Collection. Please go to
http://www.libraries.wright.edu/ebsco/index.html
for full listings (compiled by Wright State University Libraries) of titles
available as part of these packages.
This change is being made in coordination with OPLIN (Ohio Public Library
and Information Network) and INFOhio (the Information Network for Ohio
Schools), and the new license also includes other databases targeted to
public library and school library audiences. Under this license, OhioLINK,
OPLIN, and INFOhio will all receive more databases at a lower price than
they are currently paying. Other state consortia in Illinois, Indiana,
Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Texas, West Virginia, and Wisconsin
have also chosen EBSCO products after concluding that EBSCO offers more
and better content than its competitors.
We realize that this change will be implemented in the middle of the
summer term and may affect class assignments tailored to the use of a
specific database. If you are planning to use such an assignment after
July 1, please contact Mary Ellen George (x4755, georgem@ohiodominican.edu).
A reference and instruction librarian will then work with you to adjust
assignments for use with the new databases. We will be providing more
information about specific databases later this summer and in the fall.
