Who May
Borrow
Ohio Dominican University students, faculty, and staff may borrow circulating
materials with a valid ODU ID card.
Alumni, Non-ODU borrowers, and paid borrowers may obtain a borrower's
card at the Circulation Services Desk. Alumni must first register with
the Alumni Office before receiving a card. Paid borrowers may purchase
a card for a $25 fee. Cards are valid for five years and can be renewed.
Borrowing Restrictions
There is no limit to the number of circulating, non-course reserve materials
that may be borrowed by ODU students, faculty, and staff. However, in the event library fines exceed $60.00,
library privileges will be suspended until fees have been reconciled.
Borrowers' Responsibilities
As an ODU Library borrower, you are responsible for all materials checked
out in your name, and you are expected to return or renew borrowed items
by their due dates. You will be notified by email or by regular mail concerning
overdue items and fees, and OhioLINK pickups and cancellations, and you
are expected to respond to these library notifications. Replacement copies
of lost or damaged items will not be accepted in lieu of the replacement
fees. Also, you are responsible for notifying the library of a name change
or an address change.

Replacement Costs
Up To 1 Year After Due Date:
ODU items:
If an overdue ODU item is at "Billed" status, the cost to replace
an item is $100.
If a "Billed" ODU item is returned, the cost reverts to overdue
hourly/daily fees only.
OhioLINK items:
If an overdue OhioLINK item is at "Billed" status, the cost
to replace an item is $125.
If a "Billed" OhioLINK item is returned, the cost reverts to
a $50 billing fee only.
More Than 1 Year After Due Date:
ODU items:
The item is declared "Lost" and the cost is $125.
If an ODU "Lost" item is subsequently returned the cost is
reduced to $100.
OhioLINK items:
The item is "Billed" for replacement and the cost is $125.
If an OhioLINK "Billed" item is returned the cost is reduced
to $100.

Damaged Materials Examples
Examples include but are not limited to:
Repairable: $20 per item
- Call number label removed/Torn off
- Barcode removed/Torn off
- Notes written in pencil that can reasonably be erased in a minimum
of time
Not Repairable: $100 per item
- Cover is torn off, chewed, damaged in some way
- Spine is broken with cover pulling away from text block
- Item is/was wet
- Book written in to the extent that it can no longer be used
- Highlighter used in text
