Why Use Library Course Pages?

Are you asking your students to do any kind of research? Will your students be working with any information resource or search tool in any capacity?

Library course pages can help ensure that your students have all the resources and support they need to complete your assignments.

Library course pages are meant to offer support for Angel courses, hybrid courses, and traditional courses. The library course pages are, of course, not meant to be an alternative or replacement for Angel.

A Library course page can be a single page listing linked resources or a set of pages providing detailed information, hands-on practice opportunities using library resources, and other library instructional documents.

For more information on the differences between E-Reserves, Course Pages, or Angel, view Guide to E-Reserves, Course Pages, and Angel.

With a Library course page, you and your students will have the following:

* Librarian Support

  • Understanding of which skill sets and resource knowledge students most often lack
  • Understanding of prerequisite information and library skills needed for completion of assignments
  • Knowledge of ODU Library's latest resources
  • Knowledge of the latest updates to databases and other tools your students will use
  • Knowledge of discipline-specific resources in and beyond the library
  • Expertise in search strategy and information management necessary for effective research

* Customized Content

  • Librarians can provide links to library resources and services students will need for your course
  • Librarians can add guides and tips to help students navigate these resources for your assignments

* Resources Where You & Your Students Need Them

  • Links to help students find relevant library resources & course reserves fast
  • Tips to help students effectively use resources and search tools

* Connectivity

  • Immediate access to library resources
  • Online access from the course pages to the Reference Desk and other library services
  • Connections to other ODU resources most often used in courses
