How to Navigate this Site

There are 3 modules in this tutorial:

1. Understanding Research
2. Finding Books
3. Finding Articles

If you are new to research and need a thorough understanding of how to research, start with the first module, then proceed to the second and the third. If you need just a refresher on a certain point, jump to that module using the menu to the left.

Each module has the same layout; this page is an example of that layout.

This tutorial offers a step-by-step learning process. Once you are comfortable with what you've learned on a page, go to the next page. For best results, go through the tutorial page by page.

There are 3 ways to move from page to page:

• The Next and Previous links near the top of each page
• The linked text at the bottom of each page
• Additional links will appear in the menu to the left when you are in Understanding Research or Finding Books and allow you to jump to a particular segment within the respective module

There are 3 added components to assist you:

• Survivor Tips—To give you practical advice and best practices in research. These are interspersed throughout the tutorial.
• Question-and-Answer "Do You Know How" Segment—Read the question at the bottom of a page, test yourself, and read the answer provided to see if you know how.
• The button—Click on the button to go to a web page or other online resource discussed in the tutorial.
