How
do I use Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad)?
If
you are searching in a research database and have located an
article you desire, click on Find It. If it is not available online and
not available in the ODU Library, then you can click on the link to Interlibrary
Loan ("Request This Item Via Interlibrary Loan"), always located
at the top of the Find It window.
If
you are not in a database, but have identified an article that
you need and cannot obtain online or in the ODU Library, then you can
go to the library homepage and click on Interlibrary Loan, then
click on Connect to Illiad.
No matter how you get to ILLiad, the log-in is the same:
- First-time
users will first need to take a few minutes to open an Interlibrary
Loan, or ILLiad, account. Instructions are provided when you connect
to ILLiad. (Click
here
to view the log-on screen.)
-
To request a copy of an article, log on to ILLiad using
your user name and password that you create for your ILLiad account,
then click on Request an Article. (Click
here
to view your option.)
- Then
complete the online Interlibrary Loan Request Form, which requires that
you know the article citation information.
Minimum required information includes the following:
- article
author
- article
title
- journal

For
security purposes, be sure to exit the system when you are finished in
ILLiad.

Tip: The more information you provide, the easier
it will be for library personnel to track down the correct article and
the more quickly you are likely to receive the article.
