Full-Text. A database of Patient Advisory Leaflets from Lexi-Comp, providing education on medications for patients. Over 1450 medications and natural product leaflets represent the most commonly used medications.

Dissertation Abstracts (ProQuest Dissertations & Theses)

Covers doctoral dissertations and master's theses of authors from North American graduate schools and European universities. Provides abstracts + 24 pages of excerpts free. Copies of complete documents can be purchased.

 

Electronic Journal Center

Presents over 4300 research journals, covering numerous subject areas, including biology and other life sciences.

 

Electronic Theses and Dissertations Center

Covers Masters' theses and doctoral dissertations from graduate students in participating Ohio colleges and universities. Abstracts are provided with the option of downloading complete document free.

 

Environment Complete

Covers research in applicable areas of agriculture, ecosystem ecology, energy, natural resources, marine & freshwater science, geography, pollution & waste management, environmental technology, environmental law, public policy, social impacts, and more. Includes scholarly journals, trade publications, and conference papers of the North American Association of Environmental Education. Coverage: 1950s to the present.

 

Garden, Landscape & Horticulture Index (GLHI)
Focuses on environmentally sustainable horticultural and design practices. Coverage includes articles from popular and professional magazines, scholarly journals, books, reviews, and other materials.

 

Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition

Indexes Articles in scholarly journals from medical disciplines, particularly nursing and allied health, and provides full-text entries from Stedman's Medical Dictionary.

 

History of Science, Technology, and Medicine

Citations only.  Focuses on the history of science, technology, and medicine, and their influence on culture. Indexes journal articles, conference proceedings, books, book reviews, and dissertations in all scientific disciplines and related fields. Coverage: 1975-.

From the National Library of Medicine.  Covers research journal articles in the clinical sciences in Full Text. Some “Limit search results” features: Language, year, publication type (e.g., article, clinical trial), age group, animal, human, gender, and review articles.

 

MedlinePlus

This database is a wealth of good health information from the world's largest medical library, the National Library of Medicine. MedlinePlus has extensive information from the National Institutes of Health and other trusted sources on over 650 diseases and conditions. There are also lists of hospitals and physicians, a medical encyclopedia and a medical dictionary, health information in Spanish, extensive information on prescription and nonprescription drugs, health information from the media, and links to thousands of clinical trials. MedlinePlus is updated daily.

 

Natural & Alternative Treatments
Provides access to information on the safety- and efficacy-evidence regarding natural products, organized by substance and by medical condition. For each condition, herb and supplement, it suggests the direct, informed questions necessary to elicit potential drug/herb/supplement interactions.

 

PapersFirst

Citations only.  Indexes papers presented at congresses, conferences, expositions, workshops, symposia, and meetings and received at The British Library Document Supply Centre.  Coverage: 1993-.

 

ProceedingsFirst

Citations only.  Indexes conference proceedings of congresses, symposia, conferences, expositions, workshops, and meetings received at The British Library Document Centre. Coverage: 1993-.

 

PubMed

PubMed is public-accessible health database service of the National Library of Medicine that includes over
15 million citations for biomedical articles back to the 1950s. Citations from MEDLINE and additional life science journals. PubMed includes links to many sites providing full-text articles and other related resources.

 

Science Citation Index Expanded (ISI Web of Science)
Citations only. Indexes articles in peer-reviewed journals—complete bibliographic data, searchable author abstracts, and cited references. Coverage: 1980 to the present. Note: Not intended as a substitute for a comprehensive subject database such as Medline, which comprehensively indexes journal articles, books, conference proceedings, and other documents.

Choose a TITLE search and type in the title of the journal or newspaper you desire.

(1) In print in the Periodicals section on the top floor, arranged alphabetically by title
(2) Back issues in print (usually prior to 1960) in the Back Issues Room on the bottom floor
(3) In microfilm in cabinets behind the Periodicals section
