Contains peer-reviewed journal coverage from more than 3,400 scholarly publications.  Covers many academic areas of study, including language and linguistics, as well as arts and literature.

Humanities International Complete
Covers articles, essays and reviews, as well as original creative works including poems, fiction, photographs, paintings, and illustrations—all in the disciplines of the humanities.

 

Education Research Complete

Includes scholarly research and information relating to all areas of education, including curriculum instruction, administration, policy, funding, and related social issues. Coverage includes journals, books, and conference papers. Some publications indexed as far back as the beginning of the twentieth century.

 

ERIC

ERIC is the U.S. Department of Education's Educational Resource Information Center database, containing citations and abstracts from over 980 educational and education-related journals and full text of more than 2,200 digests along with references for additional information.  Updated quarterly.

 

MLA International Bibliography

Citations only.  Indexes books and articles on modern languages, literatures, folklore, and linguistics. 
Updated 10 times per year.

Middle Search Plus
Covers topics from over 140 general reference, health and science magazines for middle and junior high school students.  Updated daily.

 

Primary Search
Includes coverage from 50 children’s magazines and over 100 children’s pamphlets, designed for the elementary school student.  Updated weekly.

How Do You Find Out if a Periodical Exists in this Library?

 

·          Use the ODU Library Catalog to search for the title of the journal or newspaper you’re trying to find. 
Choose a TITLE search and type in the title of the journal or newspaper you desire.

 

·          The library's journals and magazines are located:
 
(1) In print in the Periodicals section on the top floor, arranged alphabetically by title
(2) Back issues in print (usually prior to 1960) in the Back Issues Room on the bottom floor
(3) In microfilm in cabinets behind the Periodicals section
 
A microfilm reader/printer (with free printing!) is also available on the top floor.
