A. Key Databases

 

Electronic Journal Center
Presents research journals covering many subject areas, including psychology. Search for a specific journal, or choose Social Sciences, then Psychology and Psychiatry to browse through the psychology journals.

 

Natural & Alternative Treatments

Evidence-based information on herbs and natural remedies and the conditions they may be used to treat, as well as known or suspected drug interactions. The guide addresses the amount and type of evidence to support use of these herbs and supplements, as well as how patients may be using them regardless of current evidence.

 

PsycCRITIQUES

Weekly reviews of books and films published by the American Psychological Association. In addition to the latest releases, this database contains a ten-year back-file of Contemporary Psychology book reviews, browsable by author/editor, book/film title, or publication year.

 

Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection
Covers such topics as emotional and behavioral characteristics, psychiatry and psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational and experimental methods from over 490 peer-reviewed journals.

 

PsycINFO
Abstracts only.  Contains citations and synopses of journal articles, book chapters, books, dissertations, and technical reports in the field of psychology and the psychological aspects of related disciplines.  Updated weekly.

Abstracts only.  Provides summaries of historical journal articles, chapters, books, dissertations, and reports on psychology and related fields from 1887 to 1966.  Updated weekly.

ATLA Religion Database

Citations only.  Features bibliographic information to articles, book reviews, and essays in religion and theology, spanning 50 years. Updated semiannually.

 

Catholic Periodicals and Literature Index

Citations only. Includes indexed citations to articles published in Roman Catholic periodicals, papal documents, church promulgations and books about the Catholic faith that are authored by Catholics and/or produced by Catholic publishers.

 

Social Sciences Citation Index (ISI Web of Science)

Citations only. Covers articles of scholarly journals from 50 disciplines of the social sciences, with searchable author abstracts and a unique feature that enables searching of articles that cite a known author or work.

Choose a TITLE search and type in the title of the journal or newspaper you desire.

 

·          The library's journals and magazines are located:
 
(1) In print in the Periodicals section on the top floor, arranged alphabetically by title
(2) Back issues in print (usually prior to 1960) in the Back Issues Room on the bottom floor
(3) In microfilm in cabinets behind the Periodicals section
